Update: December 2011
Hello everyone.
I trust you are all in the holiday-spirit somewhat. I am because we are now starting to decorate and there is a thin layer of snow on the ground for the first time this year.
There is a lot going on in these parts, lots of good things happening with people in this community and I am happy to do my part in everything. One of the things is the missional community that I have become a part of is collecting containers of laundry soap/detergent for the domestic abuse shelter in my county. We are trying to collect 100 containers before Christmas, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Lot’s of good connections being made with people at work, which always helps bring the community together to work towards those in need getting help. I am blessed to be working where I work. I am also helping out with a small group at my home-church which has been a blessing as well. Our church is participating in the Advent Conspiracy which is this great series talking about getting back to the roots of the holidays and about spending less, giving more of yourself, giving where it really affects people who need it, and loving. I realized last week that I spend hours shopping for something to help show my love for people when those are hours I could be spending on being with them in person, loving them.
I went to see Family Force 5 last night and got to hang out with my old friend, Isaac, who I haven’t seen in four years! He got to meet my good friend from high school and Family Force 5 played such tight set. They know exactly what they’re doing and it’s working well for them. Super excited to see all the people at the show dancing and screaming for them. Good music, good times. Lot’s of fun with glow sticks that night too ha.
Thanksgiving was a lot of fun. I ran in the Turkey Trot downtown. It was very cool to see Cleveland from that perspective. There were thousands of people running and they closed off the main areas of the city. We ran around the Brown’s stadium and in front of the Rock Hall and there were people in Thanksgiving-y costumes. Loved it.
Recently, I’ve been thinking about the music I’ve experienced in 2011, and I have to say it has been a FUN year for music. I am starting to think about what I will be including in my favorite albums of 2011 list so be on the lookout for that soon. What are your favorite albums of this past year?
Hope all is well.
